Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I understand you may have questions before booking a session with Mindful Mind Counselling. Below are some of the most common queries.

About My Approach

  • What types of counselling do you offer?

    • I provide individual counselling for adults, with a particular focus on supporting those who have experienced adversity and are seeking to live more authentically. My role is to create a safe, non‑judgmental space where you can explore your experiences, gently release what no longer serves you, and reconnect with your inner strength.

  • How do you incorporate mindfulness and a holistic approach?

    • My approach is holistic and trauma‑informed, recognising the deep connection between mind, body, and spirit. I often integrate mindfulness and body‑based awareness to support nervous system regulation, presence, and self‑understanding. In longer sessions, I weave in somatic practices to help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom.

  • Is spirituality part of your approach?

    • Spirituality is not required, but I respect and welcome individual beliefs. If exploring spirituality feels meaningful to your healing journey, we can gently incorporate it in a way that feels comfortable for you.

  • Are sessions confidential?

    • Yes. Everything you share is treated with care and confidentiality, in line with the ethical guidelines of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and Australian privacy laws. If there are rare exceptions (such as legal obligations or safety concerns), I will discuss these with you openly and with as much transparency as possible.

  • Where are your sessions held?

    • I currently offer in‑person sessions in Gosnells, WA (until 30 November). From 15 October, sessions will be available north of the river. Secure online sessions are also available, so you can connect from the comfort of your own space.

  • How do online sessions work?

    • Online sessions are held via a secure video platform. All you need is a stable internet connection and a quiet, private space where you feel safe.

  • How long are sessions?

    • Counselling: 50 minutes

    • Integrative Therapy: 80 minutes

  • What happens during a session?

    • Sessions are collaborative and paced gently. You’ll have space to share what’s on your mind, and I’ll listen with empathy and without judgment. Together, we may explore insights, body‑based awareness, and strategies to support your healing and growth.

  • How many sessions will I need?

    • Every journey is unique. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others value longer‑term support. We’ll discuss what feels right for you and adjust as your needs evolve.

  • Can I claim through private health insurance?

    • Some private health funds cover counselling. Please check with your provider directly. Typically, you pay my fee upfront and then claim back from your insurer.ctly from your insurer.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    • Life happens, and sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. This helps me offer the time to someone else who may be waiting for support.

      • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a 50% fee.

      • Missed appointments without notice may be charged at the full fee.

Taking the First Step

  • What can I expect in my first session?

    • Our first session is a gentle introduction. It’s a chance for us to connect, for you to share what has brought you here, and for me to understand your hopes for counselling. We’ll also cover confidentiality and practical details, so you feel clear and supported.

  • How do I know if this is the right fit for me?

    • The best way to know is to connect. I offer a free, no‑pressure 15‑minute consultation where you can share what you’re looking for, ask questions, and get a sense of whether my approach feels right for you.
